Today, ( Friday 25/06/2021) 10 local community groups and 1 local environmentally friendly business gathered in Andover High street. The day provided an opportunity to showcase and celebrate all that these local groups do for Andover and its environment whilst encouraging individuals, community groups, businesses and schools to make a pledge to go a step further and make a difference, however big or small, that will help tackle the climate emergency.
Ugly Ducking
Ugly Duckling is a not-for-profit furniture recycling and renovation project, run by Andover Mind, for the local community. Ugly Duckling’s aim is to help the environment by repairing and recycling donated furniture that would otherwise have gone to landfill, whilst at the same time providing work experience, social networks, and occupation and training opportunities to disadvantaged people who are involved with the upcycling work. As well as repairing donated furniture, Ugly Duckling also makes new items from recycled wood such as bird, bat and hedgehog boxes and takes client commissions.
TARCA ( The Anton River Conservation Association)
TARCA is a voluntary group set up in the Test Valley region with the aim to conserve/improve and manage the River Anton and related wildlife in the area.
Andover Men’s Shed
To provide a venue for men to talk and connect with others whilst participating in group or individual projects. \to provide opportunities for friendship and socialising in a safe environment while at the same time providing the space, expertise and facilities for men to pursue hobbies, crafts and other creative activities.

Organic, sustainable and refillable items for your home including store cupboard goods; skincare, cleaning and bathroom essentials. Bring a clean container and fill up with as much or as little as you need. Visit their website for more details.
TVBC Recycling
Were reminding people what they can and cannot recycle in the brown bin. You can put the following items in your brown recycling bin:
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Plastic bottles
- Tins and cans
- Aerosol cans
They were also encouraging people to report fly tipping by sending a text love to 60060, explaining what you’ve seen and where.
Test Valley Friends of the Earth
They campaign for sustainable solutions to environmental issues such as climate change, fracking, air pollution, reducing plastic use, helping bees, waste, recycling, transport, housing, and nature conservation.
Repair cafe
Repair cafés are free, community-centered workshops where people can bring along their items that need fixing, and then work alongside skilled volunteers to repair them.
They run monthly from Andover Mind on Westbrook close in Andover, they plan to reopen on 18th September .
Chapel Arts Studio
CAS is a socially-engaged, contemporary visual arts organisation which exists to support and develop artists, and deliver creative education in the North Hampshire region. Our intention is to maintain a sustainable organisation in which our artists and socially engaged art projects can thrive and benefit the community.
Andover Trees
A group of volunteers who are collectively responsible for the practical work of caring for the wood and running the charity’s day-to-day and behind-the-scenes activities and are the essential work force of Andover Trees United.

- Improve recreation facilities and acquire new green spaces and parkland as Andover grows.
- Cultivate community interest in Andover’s diverse wildlife and biodiversity in order to help protect it.
- Encourage and grow community-led projects where people and groups play an active role in nurturing and promoting green spaces and parkland.
- Let’s all play our part in making the established and new communities in the town greener and more beautiful places.
