Celebrating St. George’s Day 2020 in Andover

St George’s Day is this Thursday (April 23rd).

He is the patron saint of England and famously slayed a dragon. The tale may have started simply as a way to symbolise the triumph of good over evil.

Sadly, due to the coronavirus lockdown there will be no parade through Andover Town this year.

But there are other ways in which St Georges Day is still being celebrated in Andover.

On Thursday Stagecoach drivers will be celebrating St George’s Day drivers by dressing up in red and white to raise money for NHS Charities Together.

Hampshire Scouts will be participating, they are hosting a live stream, 7.30pm until 8.15pm to celebrate St George’s Day. It will include the big clap to recognise valued key workers. The link will be shared on their Facebook page here on the day.

Activities to do at home
