A weekend of Christmas Celebrations in Andover

The festive period is kicking off this weekend in Andover. There are LOTS of festive events taking place this weekend, organised by lots of great groups of people working together to ensure Andover has a fantastic Christmas experience.

Andover Window Wanderland takes place this weekend and promises to be a fantastic festival of light as residents, businesses, schools and venues where people meet illuminate our streets by creating fun window displays, creating a town wide trail on the 27th and 28th November. On Saturday 27th , 12pm – 6pm. Enham are holding their Christmas event, which includes, a Christmas fair, Real Christmas trees for sale, Children’s activities, Christmas food and drink, a visit from Santa, a lantern parade and the village Christmas light switch on. Entry is FREE and proceeds raised throughout the day will go towards Enham Trust’s vital work supporting disabled people to live, work and enjoy life. Further details can be found here

The Chantry Centre Christmas grotto will be opening its doors on Saturday 27 November. Located close to Sports Direct, there’s no need to book – simply turn up on the day. And then pop next door to browse the wonderful array of gifts and goodies from talented traders in the pop-up market from 10am to 5pm.

On Sunday 28 November enjoy a day jam-packed with seasonal cheer. Enjoy a mulled wine or two while browsing the Christmas Food and Gift Fair in the High Street from 11am to 3pm and watch the breath-taking Cirque Winter Wonderland. Pop to see the light booth by the Guildhall, indulge in a spot of entertainment at the Time Ring, then swing by St Mary’s church to see the spectacular pendulum and hypercube, before heading to Town Mills riverside park for a test of strength with the strongman and sideshow stalls.

Don’t forget to pop into The SP bar between 10am -2pm, where they are holding a festive shopping event with local mums in business. They promise that there will be gifts for everyone , and why not grab the opportunity to grab yourself a festive drink whilst visiting the bar

As Sunday draws to a close, gather around the Christmas tree for some community carols with local singer Marie Ponting , members of the public to be encouraged to move towards the Guildhall in advance of the tree and Christmas street lights coming on for an a cappella carol singing session. Song sheets will be handed out so that everyone has the opportunity to join in the festive fun.

And it doesn’t end there, with pop-up and artisan markets, street performers and the grotto continuing throughout December, there will be plenty to keep you entertained over the coming weeks.
