The Weyhill Beer Festival is back this year (Friday 19th and Saturday 20th July 2019)
Now in its 26th year, the festival has always been a popular destination of lovers of ales, live music and an enjoyable, safe family day out.
Having started in 1993, the event at The Weyhill Fair pub has seen many changes in pub management, but one consistent feature of the celebrated venue is the annual weekend of music and ales, showcasing over 40 real ales plus ciders and lagers and the talents of local musicians.
Graeme and Jane Geapes, landlords of the Weyhill Fair pub say they are delighted that they have managed to get so much support to return this event to Andover, despite only a few week’s planning.
The family-friendly event will have bouncy castles for young people and have three food stalls. Other kids’ activities are being organised. (Anyone wishing to make use of this well attended event should get in contact with the pub on 01264 773631).
Toilets, including disabled toilet facilities as well as car parking is available on the site.
Unlike in more recent previous years, the pub itself will be open. A token system remains in place for the purchase of alcohol and soft drinks.
As usual, camping is available on site for the two day event which starts on Friday 19th July at 5pm, continues through Friday evening and is open all day on Saturday. Camping must be pre-booked.
Local radio station 95.9FM Andover Radio is supporting the event with event management solutions. Mo Sweeney from Andover Radio says, “This is an essential part of the Andover event calendar. We’re so pleased that Graeme and Jane have seen the importance of this huge event for the town and are continuing to give exposure to local beers and local bands.”
As before, the event is sponsored by local builders Colin McDonnell Ltd.
The long history of a pub on the site in uncertain, but was previously named The Sun Inn and was named ‘Weydon Priors’ in the Thomas Hardy book ‘The Mayor of Casterbridge’. Written articles from Andover’s most prolific historian Anthony Raper can be found around the building.
Live broadcasts from the Weyhill Beer Festival will be on 95.9FM Andover Radio next Friday (19th July) from 4pm.
