Coronation party: It’s All Kinging Off – Day 1 Line Up

Here at Love Andover and Andover Radio we love putting on “not for profit” music festival events for the benefit of our local community.

That’s why this Summer….. we are doing not 1 or 2, but a lucky 7 yes….7 different Music Events in different venues across North Hampshire!

This starts this weekend with “It’s all kinging off” – A 2 day festival at 2 different venues to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

The event is brought to you by Andover Radio & Love Andover and is sponsored by The Commercial Centre, Elite Building Maintenance, Rebel Wine.

Check out the events here: Day 1 at The George Inn and Day 2 at The Foresters Arms.

DAY 1: THE GEORGE INN @ VERNHAM DEAN

The George Inn, is an award winning free house with good food, real ale, real coffee all set in the picturesque and friendly community of Vernham Dean.

Landlord Reece and his team have also bought in guest ales and ciders for the event – and aside from how amazing the staff here are, they also have the cutest pub dog known to humanity!!

ACT 1 – 2:00PM – ROB CLAMP

Having released his debut single ‘Wind In My Hair’ in 2020, Rob has gone on to be featured on BBC introducing, has won the highly regarded ‘Purbeck Rising 2022’ imprinting himself onto the UK folk scene, and most recently has gone on to win ‘Sofia International Singer Songwriter Festival 2022’ in Bulgaria.

Heavily influenced by the likes of; Ben Howard, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen – Rob’s music is filled with real life experiences, performed in his own compelling style, with acoustic guitar accompanied by a variation of foot percussion.

The start of 2023 has already gotten off to a bang, accompanied by his band, Rob sold out the notorious,  Joiners Arms in Southampton and within days went on to sell out Heartbreakers, also in Rob’s hometown.

We are delighted to welcome him to “King Off” day 1.

ACT 2 – 3:30PM – SOMEHOW I’M HOME

Somehow I’m Home are regular and established stalwarts on the local Salisbury Music scene with a lengthy and popular repertoire of crowd pleasing covers that they serve up acoustically with a sprinkling of Cajon over the top.

Both Mimi Shilling and Paul Furtado are Multi Instrumental, extremely talented and capable performers and we are delighted to welcome them for their first performance with us at a Love Andover Music event.

Check out their Facebook page.

ACT 3 – 5:00PM – LAUREN & HARDY

This husband and wife duo are nothing short of absolutely charming and a firm favourite with the Love Andover team after making their debut last year at our inaugaural music event “LOVE ANGELFEST”

By their own words, they say “A silly acoustic jazz duo with a penchant for covering strange, inappropriate or terrible songs”

We aren’t entirely sure that does them the credit they deserve – they are certainly original and “quirky” but they perform tunes with flawless harmonies, stacks of musical ability, a bit of husband and wife banter and a French bulldog and baby son cheering them on from the side-lines….who’s getting a musical education from a young age. We are all for that, all for these guys and can guarantee you will leave an hour of watching these two feeling very endeared to them!

Check out their Facebook page.

ACT 4 – 6:30PM – PAUL JUDE WILSON

A regular on the North Hampshire Music circuit as a Solo performer, with his Duo Wilson & Cass or in the Bitter Blues band – Paul Jude Wilson should be a familiar face and sound to most. With a style that’s a cross between folk, country and Blues and a voice that has a unique and wonderfully soulful tone to it.

Expect crowd pleasing acoustic covers, Singalongs and a man with a set of pipes on him!!

ACT 5 – 7:45PM – RICH HARRIS

Another regular on the Hampshire and Berkshire circuit is Local singer songwriter Rich Harris, who has been performing his own material and covers for nearly 20 years.

Either solo, in the originals band The Vegas or local covers outfit Decades, your always guaranteed good times and good tunes when he’s on stage.

ACT 6 – 9:00PM – SHOWPONIES

Over the summer we are delighted to bring you several different leading and established bands as headline acts for our “Magnificent 7” festival series.

This band seemed like the odds on favourite to saddle up, hit the ground running, kick it all off, unseat their rider……insert your horse puns here.

Saturday Nights headline act for “ITS ALL KINGING OFF” are the Show-Ponies – an acoustic party band that always go the extra furlong.

Band Founder – James “Stretch” Williams said, “I wanted to get out and do something different….so I formed this band from a stable of North Hampshire’s finest musicians”

He continued

“They are all well-bred, well groomed, well trained and winners in their own rights with a lengthy history of gig-racing experience behind them…..but the real beauty of this project is that we have 3 drummers, 2 bass players, 4 guitarists and 4 vocalists within the group – I get asked about a gig, a text goes out and it becomes like a grand national of who’s available, who’ll fall at the first, who’ll be there at the end!”

“It’s all unrehearsed and completely unprofessional – but like Pegasus, we are all capable of winging it and like a challenge!”

Saturday 6th May line-up features James Stretch and members from leading bands The Lowriders & LunaCube:-

James “Stretch” Williams – AKA The Jockey

George Howarth – AKA Gorgeous George

Shaun Bessant – AKA Shergar

Ida Cohen – AKA The Unicorn

Jacques Joubert – AKA Biltong
