Edward Stokes Family Funfair in Andover

Written by Stacy Woodhouse

Edward Stokes Family Funfair in Andover on Smannell Road was supposed to open on Thursday 24th September but unfortunately the director of public health at Hampshire County Council on Wednesday evening issued a recommendation that funfairs across the county should cease operating and any due to commence should not go ahead (in light of the increase in coronavirus cases and the government moving the national coronavirus alert level back up to level four).

After consultation with the director of public health the family funfair opened on Friday 25th September 2020 which was great to see.

With a fully fenced funfair so that all customers use the one-way entrance and exit system that has counters on entrance and exit so the gate operators can monitor crowd numbers.

I went on a very sunny day with my partner and her young child who was so excited. We all had our temperature taken on entry as did everyone, they also have a track and trace system in place which everyone must sign or use the funfairs QR code.

There is a token system in place where once the tokens have been used, they are collected and sanitised ready for use the next day. The token system is great because it limits the money you need to spend and lets the child make the decision on how to use the tokens.

There are sanitation stations on each ride and each ride was sanitised after every use.

Myself, partner and her child thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it!! I found the tokens to be of excellent value for the money. The food was lovely and the children (and adults) were spoilt for choice at the candy stall.

The staff were all very polite and immensely helpful.

It was great to see all the children with smiles on their faces.

Next up for Edward Stokes Family FunFair is Tidworth with the FunFair opening at 6pm on Friday 2nd October 2020 through to Sunday 11th October 2020 ( so if you missed Andover then there will be plenty of opportunities to visit Tidworth) where they have a brand new ride called Rockrage.
