Investing in the youth in our country is extremely important; developing and encouraging the next generation of artists at an early age will support them in exploring their creative side and career in art.

Now in its second year, the Wykeham Young Arts Project is a unique opportunity to allow young artists to have their art work displayed in a commercial setting, alongside established artists.

“I believe greatly that we must try and invest in the youth in our country” says Gerald Dodson, owner of the Wykeham Gallery.

“It is extremely difficult to develop these skills and even more difficult to sell them. I am absolutely convinced that if we give young children the chance, to show their work in a commercial and competitive environment, it can only do them good at a very young age.”

This year, the Wykeham Young Arts Project has worked with four local schools – Farleigh School, Test Valley, Cheam and Peter Symonds College.

In the process of picking winners, the team have viewed an eclectic mix of over 1,000 pieces of art in the process. Following a judging period, 4 pieces of art were selected and are on display in the Gallery alongside the Summer Show.

The art work will be on display in the Gallery from 19th July until 9th August 2019.  Visit https://www.wykehamgallery.co.uk/wykeham-young-art-project-2019 for further information.
