Transcendent troubadours of gypsy Latin and swing, Moscow Drug Club return to The Lights in March

Delivered with style and intimacy, Moscow Drug Club will grace The Lights arena stage with their enigmatic presence once again. The house lights will be set down, the atmosphere will be just right, and the musical performances will be (as ever) enthralling.

Known for their self-written songs, as well as gestures to their heroes, including Leonard Cohen, Django Reinhart, and Louis Armstrong, the band have all the technical nous and vigor to keep audiences on their toes! With lead singer Katya Gorrie’s charm and ever-present wit throughout the show, Jonny Bruce on trumpet, Mirek Salmon on accordion, Andy Bown on guitar and Andy Crowdy on bass, this five-piece are packed with exceptional vocalists and musicians to have you stomping in your seat.

Think cabaret meets nuevo tango with a comic twist. A third of the band’s name is “club”, and that’s exactly how it will feel to the audience, Moscow Drug Club will open their own club within The Lights arena, transporting you from Andover to a traditional cabaret club, with all of the jazz, blues and folk sounds you would expect from the quintet.

With solos aplenty, and atmospheric movements from song to song, the appeal has never wavered for the eclectic band, with six previous performances at The Lights since 2014.

It will be performance number seven on Thursday, 9 March at 8pm in the arena, and music fans won’t want to miss out on a night where you’ll feel as if you’ve rubbed shoulders with some of the timeless artists that Moscow Drug Club pay homage to in-between songs. Their influences are evident, their talent is too.

People of Andover and surrounding areas are cordially invited to experience a night like no other; whether returning patrons, or new members of the club… Share a wry smile and enter the musical world of Moscow Drug Club for a feast of fabulous music this Spring.
