JOB VACANCY: Youth and Community Worker

Love Andover Volunteer Team

As work on Andover Radio’s new community bus develops, the organisation has created a part-time Youth and Community Worker role.

To support our new mobile community hub and the various projects that will help local people, the town’s local radio station is seeking someone new to join their team at their high street offices.

With the government department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the National Lottery, Andover Radio has committed to help reduce social isolation in and around Andover.

Project lead Mo Sweeney says, “Love Andover is committed to making a difference in the community and as we grow we’re looking for passionate, enthusiastic people to help others have a meaningful life.”

According to figures from Hampshire County Council (2014), one in eight pensioners in the county live alone.  13% of pensioners surveyed say they feel ‘lonely’ or ‘very lonely’.

A Guardian newspaper article says that people who feel lonely are 50% more likely to die early.

So if you have experience in working with people to make their lives better, this role could be ideal for you.  However, Mr Sweeney adds, “You don’t need previous experience, you just need to be supportive, trustworthy and be willing to learn.”

Competitive rates of pay are on offer – with bespoke, specialist training and opportunities to earn qualifications.
