Andover swimming and water polo have had another fantastic achievement as one of their players, Lily was selected to represent Great Britain Under 17 Women at the recent EU Nations Water Polo Tournament in Brno, Czech Republic.
The young squad were playing up an age group and were therefore competing against girls 2 years older than them. Great Britain beat Ireland and Lithuania very convincingly and lost out to the Czech Republic, South Africa and England by relatively small margins, finishing 4th overall. It was a great experience for this young squad, with many making their International debuts.
Lily and her team mates have worked incredibly hard to gain selection, they train as a National Squad once a month, as well as swimming and water polo training many times a week back at their clubs. Alongside completing her GCSEs at Test Valley School next Summer, Lily has her sights set on qualification and selection for the European Water Polo Championships in the Summer of 2023.
Two swimmers from the club also qualified for the South East Regional swimming competition. Lilly and Katey both travelled to High Wycombe with both competing in the 50m backstroke event and Katey also qualifying for the 100m backstroke.
Both swimmers did amazingly well and said that the event was a great experience. Katey and Lilly have their sights set on their next events and continue to do the club proud with their achievements.
