Toucan Travel in the Chantry Centre closes its doors today (Friday 31st August) citing the lease expiring, higher rents and decline in footfall for the decision.
Manager Jo at the branch will be looking after bookings and becomes the company’s first home worker, whilst the rest of the team have found alternative employment.
A spokesperson for the company said “It is with great regret that Toucan Travel announce the closing of our Andover Branch. Due to the lease expiring, higher rents and decline in foot fall in the Chantry Centre we have had to make this difficult decision.
“On a positive note moving forward, we are excited to announce Jo, the manager of Andover will be Toucan Travels first ever home worker! She will be taking over all bookings and you can contact her on 01264 359 533 or jo.streeter@toucantravel.co.uk. We wish Jo all the luck in her new role with us.
“We would like to thank Jenny, Gemma and Sue for their hard work over the years and wish them luck in their new venture that will sadly not be with Toucan Travel.
“We also appreciate all of our loyal and amazing customers from the last 34 years and thank them for their understanding.”
The company says the other 6 branches are all trading well and they will be opening their 7th branch in Fleet tomorrow.
