This morning (Sunday, 15th September), a vehicle collided with the wall of the multi-storey car park at the Chantry Centre in Andover, causing structural damage near the Shopmobility area.
In response, the decision was made to close the car park to ensure public safety. All vehicles were promptly removed from the premises, and the closure will remain in place until structural specialists have conducted a full inspection to confirm the safety of the site.
Authorities have assured the public that the necessary safety checks will be carried out as quickly as possible, and the car park will be reopened once it is deemed secure. In the meantime, the public is encouraged to use other available parking facilities within the town centre. A full list of alternative parking sites can be found on the Test Valley Borough Council website at www.testvalley.gov.uk/parking. Chantry Centre car park permit holders are permitted to use their permits at any of the council’s other car parks until the centre is operational again.
The council has expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and understanding, as well as to staff and town centre rangers for their swift response to the incident. They also apologised for any inconvenience caused and will provide updates as soon as further information becomes available.
In a separate development, Unity located in the bus station, including the Unity Mobility service, will be closed on Monday, 16th September due to see. The Romsey office remains unaffected. Staff will be working from home and can be contacted via phone or email for assistance.
