Celebrating 30 Years of Amateur Dramatics in Upper Clatford

Burdock Valley Players is an enthusiastic and friendly local amateur dramatic society based in Upper Clatford, Andover. Now entering their thirtieth year, they regularly stage two productions a year in the King Edwards VII Memorial Hall.

A pantomime or musical in the Winter and a dramatic play or comic farce in the Spring. This year is no different, with the adults staging Alan Ayckbourn’s hilarious comedy ‘Bedroom Farce’. The play explores one hectic night in the lives of four couples, and the tangled network of their relationships.

Their younger members are a real asset to the group, regularly performing in their Winter productions. Last year they formed ‘BVP Youth’ for our members aged 6-18, who produce a production of their own in the Spring. This year they staged a spectacular 60-minute musical Disney’s ‘Frozen JR’. The show was a huge success.

Every year proceeds from our show raffle and programme sales are donated to charity. Last year Burdock Valley Players donated £525 to Andover Food Bank. This year’s charity of the year is the Koala Community Hub.

Burdock Valley Players regularly meet on a Tuesday evening from 7.30pm and always welcome new members. As well as weekly rehearsals they also hold a plethora of social events throughout the year.

Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn

Trevor and Susannah, whose marriage is on the rocks, inflict their miseries on their nearest and dearest: three couples whose own relationships are tenuous at best. Taking place sequentially in the three beleaguered couples’ bedrooms during one endless Saturday night of co- dependence and dysfunction, beds, tempers, and domestic order are ruffled, leading all the players to a hilariously touching epiphany.

Performances: Friday 31st May, 7.30pm Saturday 1st June, 7.30pm Sunday 2nd June, 6.00pm Tickets: £10, available to purchase from www.burdockvalleyplayers.com, The Lights Theatre Box Office or The Clatfords Village Store.
