Andover New Street Youth Football Club Scores Big with an Epic Charity Day

On the 1st of May, the Andover New Street Youth Football Club hosted its highly anticipated charity day. Despite a mixed weather forecast, the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the participants and spectators.

The event kicked off with an exhilarating match between the club’s mixed U16s girls and boys teams. The intense game was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd, which boasted an impressive turnout of supporters.

The second match of the day showcased the U13 Vixens team, who played in memory of their beloved coach, Jon Baxter, the driving force behind this special event. Their opponents were the U12 Robins, and the two teams battled fiercely in a closely fought match, demonstrating their passion and determination.

During the breaks between matches, spectators had the opportunity to enjoy themselves with various activities. The New Street bar provided refreshments, while face painting stations delighted both children and adults alike. Furthermore, attendees had the chance to meet and interact with the youth team coaches, including the legendary Petr Cech, former goalkeeper for Arsenal and Chelsea. Excitement filled the air as fans eagerly sought autographs and posed for photos with the esteemed coach.

The grand finale of the day arrived with great anticipation as the Vixens took on the Foxes in the ultimate showdown. The players eagerly watched their coaches go head-to-head, putting their own teachings into practice. The match was filled with thrilling moments, and the Vixens managed to secure a remarkable three goals against the skilful Foxes. However, the tides turned when Rob Dixon stepped up to the penalty spot and unleashed a powerful past the Vixens’ goalkeeper Petr, saving his team from total defeat and earning himself some well-deserved bragging rights.

Overall, it was an unforgettable day for everyone involved, and the event proved to be a tremendous success. Most notably, the Andover New Street Youth Football Club managed to raise an astonishing £5,700. This phenomenal amount will be distributed equally among the club’s three designated charities: Maggies, Streets Ahead, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The club extends its heartfelt gratitude to the generous local businesses that contributed prizes to the raffle, as well as the coaches, players, and volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make the day possible.

Special thanks are also extended to Jake Ward, whose captivating announcements and melodious voice kept the audience entertained throughout the event. Furthermore, the club expresses its gratitude to Andover New Street for graciously sharing their pitch.
