Community unites to honour loved ones with Yellow Ribbon dedications this September

This September, the Countess of Brecknock Hospice, invited local residents to come together in remembrance of their loved ones through their first Tie a Yellow Ribbon campaign.

Participants were able to dedicate a ribbon in memory of a loved one, and the ribbons were proudly displayed in the hospice’s front garden throughout the month.

All dedications were included in special remembrance books, which were available for viewing at the hospice reception during September.

Local businesses and individuals also displayed yellow ribbon poster boards in windows, gardens, and buildings to show support for the hospice. Supporters included Parker Bullen, Newbury Building Society, and Dunning Funeral Directors.

This event offered a meaningful way for everyone, regardless of prior connection to the hospice, to take part in a beautiful tribute to those loved ones or to show support for the hospice. Over 150 ribbons were dedicated, helping to raise nearly £4,000 for the charity to help them continue to support the hospices services.

Michele Gard, Charity Director said: “We were deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support for our first Tie a Yellow Ribbon campaign. We are so grateful to all those that dedicated ribbons and to the businesses who participated in making September a month of remembrance and reflection.”

Ribbons and dedication certificates can be picked up from the hospice from 7 October.
