Test Valley Borough Council has awarded a £750 Business Incentive Grant to Dave Kane after he launched his own handyman business, Dave’s Home Help in February 2018.
Dave offers support with many tasks such as basic DIY, gardening, decorating and shopping. His services are particularly popular with the elderly and those who are visually impaired or disabled.
Last year, Dave sought out advice and guidance through the Department for Work and Pension’s New Enterprise Allowance scheme, to help him pursue his ambition of setting up his own business. The scheme provides business mentoring and training, for those looking to become self-employed.
Dave said “It’s brilliant that Test Valley Borough Council supports new independent businesses with grants like these. The grant is a great help when you’ve just launched your own company.”
Local Ward Member, Councillor Maureen Flood presented the grant to Dave and said “It’s excellent to see that Dave has taken full advantage of the New Enterprise Allowance scheme and has launched his own business as a result. There is a growing need for businesses like Dave’s and I understand he has already started to receive referrals for his work, which is brilliant news.”
The Council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
