21st September 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pmFree
Take a virtual trip along this beautiful chalk stream to learn more about its fascinating history and ecology. Trace its path from Penton to Rooksbury Mill Local Nature Reserve, and learn about some of the countryside sites that line its route through Andover.
In this online talk, Charlotte Rimmer (Countryside Officer for Test Valley Borough Council) will highlight some of the amazing creatures that are at home on the Anton, as well as how the Council are conserving and enhancing the valuable chalk stream habitat. Find out how you can get involved and do your bit to conserve this treasure on your doorstep!
Since starting her post in 2010, Charlotte has focused her work around Andover, the River Anton and the Local Nature Reserves along its reach. She has worked in partnership with organisations like Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and the Environment Agency, volunteers groups like TARCA, and various schools and colleges, in order to restore and improve many sections of the river.
This event is part of Watercress and Winterbournes, a Landscape Partnership Scheme that is protecting, enhancing, and celebrating seven local chalk streams – learn more.
