WORLD WAR II DRAMA “ALONE IN BERLIN” COMES TO ANDOVER
Monday, 9th October, 8PM at ODEON Andover. 12A.
Now in its tenth season, the Andover Film Club is dedicated to bringing great films to the town. Octobers film will be Alone in Berlin, directed by Vincent Perez (The Secret, Once Upon an Angel) and starring Dominic Gleeson and Emma Thompson.
When German soldier Hans Quangel is killed in France, his parents (Gleeson, Thompson) engage in a propaganda war against the Nazi regime by leaving provocative postcards around the city. Meanwhile, Detective Escherich (Daniel Bruhl) is tasked with tracking down the “traitors”.
Taking inspiration from real events, the film was acclaimed for the lead roles’ strong performances, and described as “a deeply moving film and a worthy monument to a pair of decidedly unlikely war heroes” (The Daily Mail).
