Brendoncare Club, Andover Saturday Club, is taking part in the third ‘The Great Get Together’. The event taking place on Saturday 22 June will be held at the Andover United Reformed Church Hall, East Street, Andover, between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June 2016. This year’s event will mark what would have been her 45th birthday and supports her legacy to help reduce loneliness and social isolation. Jo’s family and friends came up with the initiative, with the aim of bringing the country together and uniting communities.
Activities at the Andover Saturday Club during ‘The Great Get Together’ will include the horse racing game and indoor Kurling, which will be followed by a cream tea.
Barbara Long, member of the Andover Saturday Club and Andover Town Mayor for 2018-2019, said, “Last year I visited the Club and received a very warm welcome from members and volunteers. Clubs like Andover Saturday Club are a great place for people to meet and make new friends. I enjoyed my visit so much that I became a member and now attend as much as I can. As an added bonus, I also won the last year’s Christmas card competition!”
Brendoncare Clubs provide fun and friendship to older people across Hampshire and Dorset through their 90+ social and exercise clubs. Andover Saturday club meets each week at the United Reformed Church on East Street from 10.30am-12.30pm. The Four Corners club also meets at the church on alternate Thursdays, 2pm-4pm. Both offer a variety of activities and entertainment.
