Four Fun Fridays Chantry Centre Children’s workshops

Although Four Fun Fridays may look a little different this year due to Covid-19, relaxed restrictions mean that some events will still take place on each of the four Fridays in August.

Test Valley Borough Council, in conjunction with Andover Vision and supported by the Chantry Centre, are delighted to announce that a series of free family-friendly workshops will be taking place in the Chantry Centre every Friday in August, each with a different fun theme.

Week 1, 7 August ‘Summer in the garden’ – help to create a giant butterfly and make flowers, bugs and butterflies to take home.

The workshops will run in the Chantry Centre in the garden square near Boswell’s Café each Friday in August at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Each workshop will last approximately 40 minutes and is free.  To ensure Covid-19 compliance and that workshops remain safe and fun, spaces are limited so they must be pre-booked via The Lights Box Office: 01264 368368 (telephone only Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays from 10am – 2pm)

People are encouraged to book as a family unit or in established Covid ‘bubbles’ to enable us to maximise the spaces available whilst maintaining safe distancing.  Each booking unit will then be allocated their own table and materials for the duration of the workshop.

Family Art Trails around Andover!

Next Friday starts a month long art trail adventure. Follow the trails, created in conjunction with The Artroom, and get the whole family involved in activities based on different weekly themes around the town.

Participants can channel their artistic skills to create something wonderful. Families are encouraged to come back each week and collect all four trail guides. Information about each trail can be collected from a range of our independent shops in the town centre.

Week One – Art Hunt 7 August
For the first we have a look in the shop windows of some of Andover town centre’s fantastic independent traders. There are eight ‘Picture Frames’ hidden away. Find them and draw what is in each of the frames.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Phil North said: “This is a great way for families to come together and explore the town; to see new things that will enliven imagination and spark creativity.
“The project has been funded by Section 106 developer contributions from the Andover Business Park and supports our ambitions for public art in the Test Valley to involve, inspire and intrigue.”

The Four Fun Fridays project is brought to you by Test Valley Borough Council in conjunction with Andover Vision.
