Free Tea – End Polio Now

I am delighted to say that both Andover Rotary Clubs have got together to have a FREE TEA PARTY for the International END POLIO NOW campaign.

I would like to take this opportunity of inviting you to come along to the Guildhall on the SATURDAY 23rd February at 3.00pm to have a cream tea.

30 Years ago, there were 350,000 cases of Polio every year in 125 Countries.  Rotary International, with Bill Gates of Microsoft, decided they could rid the world of Polio. Every £1 raised by Rotary, Bill Gates donated a further £2.

This year to date there has only been 20 cases in just two Countries so potentially we can rid the world of Polio.  In those Countries where there were no official lists of population, volunteers gave each child a sugar lump containing the vaccine and dipped their finger in to a purple dye. This meant as they went around the various countriesthey were able to see which children had or had not been vaccinated.
