Gripping Gliders
21st February 2022 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
Included in cost of Museum Admission
Families can find out what it was like to fly in a Glider in a special presentation by Glider Pilot Regiment expert, Tony Bray at the Army Flying Museum this February Half Term. This is one of the activities to mark the 80th anniversary of the Glider Pilot Regiment, which was formed on 24th February 1942.
Tony will be delivering an engaging 30 minute presentation at 1130hrs, then again at 1330hrs on Monday 21st February, which will bring the experience of being a Glider pilot alive. Go along to hear the story of the Glider Pilot Regiment; discover why we needed gliders and find out who flew them; hear about the training the pilots underwent; learn about some of the Operations these brave soldiers took part in during the Second World War and find out what became of them.
There will also be the chance to have a go at a fun Glider trail which will be running all week, as well as Camouflage craft activities which run from Monday 21st to Friday 25th February between 10.30am to 1.30pm.
These activities are included as part of the normal Museum admission price. Pay for admission once and get in for free all year.
