Olavs Menn / Harmonium Singers Concert
28th October 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
Olavs Menn are a Norwegian male voice choir who are travelling to Andover to sing at the site where King Olav was converted to Christianity in 994.
He then went on to convert Norway during his reign. Their programme will display the full breadth of their repertoire. They will also sing some pieces together with local choir The Harmonium Singers, with whom they will share the concert. Test Valley Borough Council have donated copies of their beautifully illustrated book The Test Valley Tapestry, as a gift for each singer.
Bruce Randall, musical director of The Harmonium Singers, said: “This is a unique cultural event for Andover, reminding us that our town was important even in medieval times. The music will be extremely varied and a treat for anyone who likes choirs. Certainly an evening to remember.”
The concert begins at the unusual time of 5.00pm, as the choir is staying in London. Admission is free, with refreshments and a retiring collection.
