Traces of Prehistory – An Exhibition from Artkinesis at Andover Museum and Museum of the Iron Age, 30 June – 18 August.
The art in this exhibition is a response to prehistoric man’s influence on today’s landscape, and a reflection on our relationship with the distant past. Mysterious stone circles, intriguing barrows, exhilarating hill forts and illuminating finds: the essence of history, of human hopes and fears over the years.
Artikinesis are: Adeliza Mole, Amanda Bates, Brian R. Marchant, Elinor Cooper and Rosemary Lawrey.
Based in Hampshire and Berkshire, they have been expanding their creative horizons together since 2015. Their art is stylistically diverse but united in its emotional and intellectual engagement. They have exhibited projects in Basingstoke, Reading, Newbury and Gosport, and published a unique art colouring book that promotes outdoor exploration.
