World Down’s Syndrome Day
March 21

Every year on 21st March, Andover Twenty1 joins people around the world to celebrate World Down’s Syndrome Day, by wearing “Lots of Socks” (brightly coloured, odd socks) to raise awareness and much needed funds to support the Down’s Syndrome community.
You may be wondering, why socks? This is because chromosomes look like pairs of socks (under the microscope) and people with Down’s Syndrome have an extra chromosome. In fact, they have three copies of the 21st chromosome, (instead of the usual pair), which is why our charity is called Andover Twenty1.
This year World Down’s Syndrome Day will look a little different, due to the current restrictions our country faces. We have decided to focus our efforts on raising as much awareness as we can.
