On Wednesday 23rd June, Ayden aged 14 of Rookwood School, competed in the Independent Schools Golf Association HG Cup at The Warwickshire Golf Club. Ayden won the competition for the Under 15 category and came 6th in the Under 18 category, which is a fantastic achievement.

Head of Physical Education at Rookwood, Mr Leigh Mills said “Ayden is a very driven individual. He lives and breathes golf and it is evident that his hard work is paying off. The fact that Ayden has gone and won his age category and come 6th in the under 18’s is incredible. Anyone who speaks to Ayden about his golf knows that he is not getting too carried away and he understands the dedication and mental toughness needed to succeed. We will be doing all we can at Rookwood to support him as he looks to progress in the game and we are all very proud of his achievements so far”.

Talking to Ayden about his success he said “My season has been going well and I’ve really learned a lot. I used to get really frustrated on the course and struggle to manage this. With my coach I have been able to work on controlling my frustrations and not letting it affect my game. I’ve won club competitions before which has been great but winning the HG Trophy on Wednesday was the first national competition I have won. I’ve now got a lot more confidence in my abilities and I am setting my sights on the Under 16 Reed Trophy. It is a huge national competition that I am hopeful I will do well in, with continued hard work”.

Well done Ayden and good luck.
