A stylish new cocktail bar opens later today.
The SP Bar, off Western Avenue with an entrance from Bridge Street will be serving a range of quality cocktails and brunch after it officially opens at 5pm this evening (Friday 11th October 2019).
Ricky and Steph Pledge who launched ‘ The SP’ have been give the first instalment of a £1,000 grant from Test Valley Borough Council to support new businesses in town.
At a time when new businesses opening are very frequent – a look up the upper High Street will show four new businesses either recently opened or poised to launch, the idea for the new cocktail bar is to cater for working people in Andover and as a ‘Starting Point’ for an evening out.
Owners of the elegantly decorated venue specifically cite that the idea for the bar was to cater for the growing number of working professionals who have moved into the town after moving to Andover from London several years ago.
The SP bar opened its doors in a ‘soft launch on Saturday’.
Owner Ricky Pledge says, “There is a lot of potential in Andover and that’s why I’m extremely pleased the council has supported this business.
“A lot of our friends we have made here are similar to us in that we want to see Andover progress and we’re hopeful that we can add a little bit extra to that.”
Andover’s Business Improvement District Manager Steve Godwin added, “It’s always great to see a new business investing in Andover.
“At a time when all the evidence shows Andover growing, with huge potential for the future, we’re looking forward to seeing the business grow into an important part of our town’s economy.”
