Jet washing businesses makes a splash

An Anna Valley man has turned a hobby into a new career thanks to a grant from Test Valley Borough Council.

Following a successful career in senior sales management in the water utilities pumping sector and telematics tracking systems in the heavy plant industry, Gary Berntsen has set off on a new path with his jet washing business.

Now, he has been awarded £750 in the form of a Business Incentive Grant to help purchase vital equipment.

Gary has been completing jobs in the past for friends and family and is now able to purchase more machinery needed to ensure his business, Jet Washing Services, continues to be a success by working for businesses large and small.

Gary said: “It’s work I really enjoy doing and this funding will help me to buy more industrial machinery that will mean I can offer a more effective service.

I’ve been fortunate with the support I’ve had around me as I start up my company and I’m grateful for the advice I’ve had from the council, too.

Anna ward councillor, Maureen Flood, added: “It’s always nice to hear when someone is able to turn an activity they enjoy into a career, so I’m pleased for Gary. I hope his business continues to be successful and I wish him good luck.

The council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.

These funds have become available to the community as a consequence of the council’s prudent investments, financial management and the use of the New Homes Bonus.
