Brand New Young Persons Service launches in Andover

Andover Mind are excited to announce their new Young Person Service ‘Be You’. The service supports young people aged 11-17 in Andover helping to build their resilience and coping skills to learn, support and maintain their well-being through a blend of approaches.

They are seeking to partner with other community organisations, businesses and individuals committed to the future of young people. The partnership aims to help young people by sharing skills, expertise, space, information, ideas, resources and knowledge. Together, they will shape, build and develop an integrated, wide-ranging, and inclusive youth offer in Andover.

The Project has been developed to work currently across two strands:

1. Young Person Sessions/Drop in – Starts 2nd February 2021

Provides a safe space for young people to access help out of school hours and at weekends. Information is available in a casual setting and is facilitated by project staff alongside key partners. 1:1 appointments with a peer worker or mental health practitioner are bookable. Appointments will deliver tailored advice, information, signposting and support via de escalation, coping strategies and well-being toolkits.

2. Music Therapy Programme- Started in September 2021

The objective is to provide the opportunity for younger individuals to engage in a group in which they can discover the benefits of music as a therapeutic medium. The rolling programme will run fortnightly for 6 sessions with a different focus in each and will allow up to 8 participants. Participants will learn to be able to use music as a way of releasing emotions and expressing their inner world using rhythm and sound.
