Make It Expressive project

Make It Expressive is a project made up of a series of creative workshops led by artist and educator Elizabeth Hammond. The workshops are held over 4 days working with students who have severe learning difficulties and staff from Icknield School in Andover and with residents with physical and learning difficulties and staff from Enham Trust in Andover. These will culminate in a public exhibition at The Lights in Andover from 20th September till 29th October 2021.

The aim of the project is to explore and learn how we can communicate through being creative together. The participants are exploring this idea through paperclay, monoprinting, drawing with sticks, collaborative recycled sculpture building and kinetic drawing. The workshops are about enjoying the process of being creative which inevitably leads to more lively and engaging outcomes, being less rigid in expectations of ourselves and our output. This is hugely beneficial as it builds confidence which is far reaching beyond the project. The participants are learning to let go of preconceptions and enjoy being creative together.

The project is made possible with the support of Test Valley Arts Foundation who secured funding through Arts Council England.
