The Mayor of Test Valley’s Golf Day scheduled for Friday 5th October at the Hampshire Golf Course has been cancelled.
Mayor of Test valley, Cllr Ian Carr, said “The reason is that we did not receive enough entries to make a sensible competition out of the event. A lot of effort was put onto getting teams to play, with all local golf clubs etc circulated with details.
“We had early promises of at least 10 -12 teams entering but by entry closing time last Friday, we had only received 4 team entries out of a max target of 18 team.
“The committee decided that the cost and effort need to stage the event was disproportional to the benefits.
“I would like to thank the 4 teams that did enter for their support and to apologise for the event not going ahead.”
