Richard Rowles announces his candidacy for Andover South

A recent edition of BBC’s “Litter Wars” featured Andover – and Andover’s litter campaigner Manuela Wahnon.

The show features various litter vigilantes – men and women who care about the cleanliness of their streets and parks and are prepared to take matters into their own hands, confronting the people that litter as well as getting stuck in to help clear up the mess.

The show can still be seen on BBC iPlayer until 11:24pm on Tuesday 26th February 2013. To watch, click here.

  • I watched the segment on Andover from the program. The question that springs to mind are where are the official Council enforcement officers? Do we only have those who walk around the checking the parking tickets on cars? (I believe they are enforcement officers – according to the tags on their uniforms) . If they are our Town’s only official “enforcers” then shouldn’t they be handing out littering fines? Also, on the folks who monitor with video cams, or film individuals – are they not leaving themselves open to prosecution for illegal surveillance?
