Art Exhibition in Andover Showcases Local Talent

A Preview Night was held yesterday (Friday 16th August) for a group of artists at the Chapel Arts Studio in Andover as part of  Hampshire Open Studios – a county wide event run over 10 days.

Set in the old chapel in the grounds of St Mary’s, the studios is showing work from CAS artists Elle Ford, Di Peisley, Tom Mortimer, David Dixon and introducing our next resident Deborah Skinner.

The launch night was attended by the Mayor of Test Valley together with local MP Sir George Young as well as various members of Test Valley Arts Foundation including Bryan and Diana Beggs, authors of “The Churches of Test Valley – A Photographic and Historical Odyssey” – which is sold in aid of the Foundation.

Lead artist David Dixon said: “We’ve had a super bunch of artists work here since we launched in 2009. Yonat Nitzan-Green was first through the doors, followed by Russell Moreton, then Kate Harding, Ally Cattaneo, Elle Ford, Hania Zawora, and Di Peisley.

Tom Mortimer has been orbiting in association, curating as he goes, and now Deborah Skinner will be joining us from September. A big thanks to all of you!

We’re very pleased to be part of these Open Studios, and will be happy to share a cup of tea if any of you bunch fancy popping down one afternoon.

The Hampshire Open Studios event runs from today (Saturday 17th August) until 26th August and Chapel Arts Studios will be open daily 11am to 4pm, or by arrangement.
