Andover Radio is proud to celebrate its 5th birthday as a vital source of local news, information, events, and charitable support for the Andover community and surrounding areas.
Since its launch in 2018, the station has worked tirelessly to create a sense of community and togetherness, making a positive impact on the lives of those around it.
In addition to this milestone anniversary, Andover Radio is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded an extension to its license from OFCOM. This news is a testament to the station’s hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serving the community.
Over the past few years, Andover Radio has become a hub of the community, providing a platform for local groups, charities, and not-for-profit organizations to share their message with a wider audience. The station’s linkline service, which provides free airtime for community groups, has been particularly valuable during the pandemic. Hundreds of hours of airtime have been made available to local groups, allowing them to reach out to people and offer support when it was needed most.
The station has also been a lifeline for local businesses, who have used Andover Radio as a key part of their advertising strategy. By promoting their services and products on the station, businesses have been able to reach a wider audience, and in turn, support the station’s continued operation. The relationship between the station and local businesses has been mutually beneficial, and has helped to strengthen the local economy.
During the pandemic, Andover Radio has demonstrated its resilience, adaptability, and commitment to the community. The station has continued to provide a vital service, keeping people informed, entertained, and connected, even when face-to-face contact was not possible. Through the power of radio, the station has helped to bring people together, and provide a sense of community spirit during difficult times.
The station’s programming has been a source of comfort and support for listeners, with shows covering a wide range of topics, including health and wellbeing, local news, and entertainment. The station has also provided a platform for local musicians and artists to showcase their talents, and has helped to promote cultural events in the local area.
“What a great birthday present. We are incredibly grateful to have received this license extension from OFCOM,” said Andover Radio’s Managing Director Ben Tuffin. “It’s a recognition of our hard work over the past five years and a testament to our unwavering commitment to serving the community. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our volunteers, sponsors, advertisers, and listeners.”
Over the past five years, Andover Radio has become a vital part of the community, providing a platform for local news, information, and events, as well as offering support to charitable organizations. The station is committed to continuing its mission of serving the community and making a positive impact on the lives of those around it.
“As we celebrate our 5th anniversary and look to the future, we are more committed than ever to making Andover Radio an even stronger and more vital part of the community,” said the Managing Director. “We want to thank our volunteers, sponsors, advertisers, and listeners for their unwavering support. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to continuing to serve the community for many more years to come.”
This year the radio station has made changes to it’s operation, they moved premises after their lease ended and with rising energy prices and are now located at The Commercial Centre, Picket Piece. Ben Tuffin added “We loved it in the High Street, if you ever went there it was an impressive workspace and we had many fond memories. However, with the rising cost of energy prices and the fact that the office was just too big for us for what we needed.
“We are looking forward to serving the community from The Commercial Centre.”
