The Dress Boutique in Andover is about to celebrate its first year in business.

Since opening at the top of the High Street in November 2012, the independent retailer, which specializes in occasion wear, has gone from strength to strength.

Owned by Louise Ellison, who previously had a career in design and marketing, The Dress Boutique was founded from her love of beautiful dresses, and has evolved into a successful business venture.

After a six month trial period in its first premises, the shop moved to a bigger unit in July this year, located at Waverley Buildings, Waterloo Court. Ideally placed in between Eva Hair Salon and David Mellor Jewellers.

As well as a range of full-length evening gowns, prom, bridesmaid dresses and mother of the bride outfits, they also sell an array of pashminas and wraps, clutch bags and costume jewellery.

Opening a business, particularly retail, in the current financial climate was a risk, but I have been really lucky to be given the opportunity of testing the water with a short-term lease. Sales exceeded my expectations, and customer feedback was really encouraging so I took the plunge to take on my own lease and move to the bigger unit. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me over the last year.” says Louise.

The Dress Boutique has a number of events planned over the next few months including a Prom Dress Preview Weekend and a Charity Military Ladies Night, not forgetting their 1st Birthday Celebrations when the new premises will be officially opened by local girl group Chasing Daisies on Saturday 16th November.
