Andover Musical Theatre Company will once again take to the stage this May for The
Hunchback of Notre Dame. The show will run from 24 – 27 May 2023 at The Lights Theatre,
Andover.
Andover Musical Theatre Company are back with their latest production. With a change of
tone from their last two productions, May 2023 sees the group crowd the streets of 15th
century Paris as they prepare to perform The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Based on the Victor Hugo novel and showcasing songs from the beloved Disney film
(featuring an Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by musical theatre and
Disney legends Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz) this retelling is not how you remember
it!
With dark twists and turns, The Hunchback of Notre Dame tells the story of Quasimodo (Will
Swinnerton), an orphan given to his uncle Archdeacon Claude Frollo (Jon Baron), for care.
However, with Frollo’s less than holy intentions, Quasimodo is kept out of sight, due to his
disfigurements.
When Quasimodo escapes to see what lay beyond the stone walls of Notre Dame, he meets
the enchantangly beautiful gypsy, Esmeralda (Jaysha Crankshaw). Therein lies the triangle, as
Esmeralda falls for soldier Phoebus (Glyn Juliff) in an entangled love affair. This is all much to
the dismay of Queen of the Gypsies, Clopin (Toni-Nicole Gaff).
Andover Musical Theatre Company’s production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame runs from
