Former Andover girl Cath Kidston could be set to see her company float on the stock market for an estimated £250 million potentially earning her £50 million.

Born in 1958 and raised near Andover, Cath Kidston is cousin to TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp. She moved to London aged 18 and after a series of jobs, including working as an antique fabric dealer, trained with interior designer Nicky Haslam before setting up her own business in 1987 with a friend.

Kidston opened her first store in London’s Holland Park in 1994 selling hand-embroidered tea-towels and renovated furniture and by April 2011 this grew to over 40 shops. As of 2013 there are now over 200 outlets with the company’s annual turnover topping over £100 million.
