Test Valley Partnership is appealing for community groups to submit bids for a share of £16,500, as part of Hampshire County Council’s Have Your Say scheme.

Local groups have between Monday 27 May and Monday 1 July, to bid for a grant of up to £2,000. Money will be awarded to projects developed by the local community for the local community.

Once applications have closed, a group of young people from a variety of backgrounds from across the borough will meet to prioritise and shortlist a number of projects to take forward. These will then be put to a public vote, to enable local people to choose the projects they wish to see funding awarded to. The money will be shared equally between projects in the north of the borough and projects in the south.

Councillor Ian Carr, Leader of Test Valley Borough Council and Chairman of Test Valley Strategic Partnership, said: “This is a great opportunity for groups to apply for funding to help kick-start community projects. We are keen for communities to take the lead in identifying what is important in their local area and this is a chance to do just that.”

“The Have Your Say Scheme complements a variety of initiatives implemented by the Council, such as the introduction of local budgets and community empowerment projects.
