Councillor Tony Hooke was this morning questioned under caution at Andover Police station as part of an investigation into allegations of bribery.

The investigation – which is still ongoing – is believed to be centred around Neighbourcare in Andover.

A UKIP spokesperson said:

Cllr Hooke has been interviewed under caution over allegations of electoral fraud made. He has not been arrested.”

He will be cooperating with the police and we are confident that it can be proved no malice was intended in his pledge to donate expenses to a local charity.

Hampshire Constabulary have also confirmed that no arrest was made.

Andover Town News and reporter Ryan Sutton (@RyanJWSutton) will be updating this story as we get more.
