On the 24th September Andover and District Mencap held its AGM at the Andover Baptist Church and was attended by over 50 members of the local community.
CEO Chris Dixon said “it was an opportunity to reflect on the year in hand and how the organisation had overcome the challenges an uncertain economic environment presented.”
Andover and District Mencap bade farewell to Reverend Jill Bentall as our outgoing president. Reverend Jill has been a friend of ADM for over 30 years. She served the last nine as president. She has handed the title of President over to Iris Anderson who was unanimously voted in as our New Honorary President by Andover and District Mencap members.
His Worshipful the Mayor of Test Valley Martin Hatley attended as the guest speaker. Brilliant Drama Group’s entertained us with highlights from their upcoming nativity and CEO Chris Dixon presented ADM’s annual shining stars presentation.
This year the awards were sponsored by local businesses. Andover Radio, Andover Fire and Security, Pastel Mobile Solutions, AJG and HB Tech all provided the shining stars trophy as well as a cash award.
The awards, which included:
Team Work, Shining Star, Unsung Hero, Extra Mile, Outstanding Service and Purple Leaf were greatly received by staff and volunteers. The awards are voted on by staff member’s service users, their families, carers, supporters, volunteers, and colleagues. Chris Dixon, CEO said “We are grateful of the support of the local business. The fact that they are able to support our staff recognition awards, shows that they value the work that ADM do for the Andover Community”
