When Andover’s new radio station launches in April, you’ll probably recognise the voice waking you up on weekday mornings.
Andover Radio has confirmed that Steve Randall will be at the start of many Andoverians’ days, hosting the station’s breakfast show.
Steve stopped doing a daily radio show four years’ ago but had been a familiar voice on the town’s airwaves since 2008.
As well as his show he was well-known for hosting events in the town including the Christmas Lights Switch-On.
“I am really excited to be joining Andover Radio,” Steve says.
“The opportunity to be part of a station based in the town once again was too good to turn down.”
Steve has been working as a programme consultant for the station since managing director David Harber first set about bringing a radio studio back to Andover. His ‘day job’ is running a media company and a recently-formed marketing business.
Steve co-hosted Andover Armed Forces Day for Love Andover in June 2017.
“When my previous show was ‘networked’ from Basingstoke it was a great challenge, but I’ve never been driven by covering a big region,” explains Steve. “The radio I had been involved with in Andover previously was much more fun!”
Steve is a passionate supporter of truly local radio and says he was tempted back to a daily show for two reasons, “Firstly, helping to return the benefits that a locally-based radio station brings Andover.
“Secondly, it’s due to the passion of the Andover Radio team to take some chances on new shows and ideas… along with some established presenters.”
Steve programme will feature the ‘Andover Accumulator’ competition, kids from local school and local news, weather, sport and travel exclusively for Andover.
The weekday programme will be sponsored by Photos2Print on Bridge Street.
Other programmes on the new station include an eclectic music programme presented by Luke Sperry, and a weekly local topical affairs programme hosted by local, independent financial expert Adam Phillips.
Steve Randall in the Morning is weekdays from 7am on 95.9FM Andover Radio.
