Five drug arrests in Andover

Hampshire Constabulary have seized over £28,000 worth of drugs and made 35 arrests during a week of activity to tackle drug dealing.

Over £12,000 cash was also recovered as part of the ‘County Lines’ operation.  Last week local Police took part in a national week of action led by the National Crime Agency.

In Andover Andover there were five arrests and seizures of suspected crack cocaine (10 grams), suspected Heroin (19grams) and a small amount of cannabis.

Almost £3,000 was also seized as well as nine mobile phones.

On Tuesday 22 January, officers attended an address in Turin Court, Andover.  Suspected Class A drugs, cash and a phone were seized. A 20-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

A 36-year-old man from Andover was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. Both men have been released from custody but remain under investigation.

On Wednesday 23 January, officers executed a warrant at an address off Suffolk Road, Andover. A 41-year-old man from Andover was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.

A 19-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. Both men have been released from custody but remain under investigation.

On Thursday 24 January, officers executed a warrant at an address off Hazel Close, Andover. Suspected Class A drugs were seized, as well as cash and mobile phones. A 17-year-old boy from London was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin and possession of a Class A drug. He has been released from custody but remains under investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Southey, from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit, said, “We are working hard, alongside partner agencies and our colleagues in Hampshire Constabulary to identify and target the most serious offenders in County Lines drugs supply gangs.

“Those involved in County Lines networks not only exploit the most vulnerable people in society, but their criminality has a wide and far-reaching effect across society.

“Drugs supply isn’t something we will tolerate in the south east, and we are determined to bring those involved to justice.”
