Mayor’s charitable supermarket sweep in new Andover store

Andover Town Council Mayor, Cllr Richard Rowles, is set to take part is a trolley dash tomorrow for Andover Foodbank.

The trolley dash will be taking place at the new Lidl store on Walworth Industrial Estate in Andover as part of their opening day.

Cllr Rowles was asked to open the store two weeks ago, but only agreed if he could do it while raising money for charity.

The new store at Walworth Business Park is set to open at 8.00am tomorrow with the official opening speeches to be done by a Lidl representative and the Town Mayor, who will then cut the ribbon to open the store formally, shown around the new store by the LIDL representative, and then go for the trolley dash!

All the products he manages to collect will be donated to Andover Foodbank who supply food boxes for those who struggle.

Foodbank referrals are available from Andover Citizens Advice Bureau, Jobcentreplus at TVBC Offices and Housing Associations.

A report and photos on tomorrow’s event will be hosted by Love Andover tomorrow.
