Andover artist Alex McGarry who runs her own studio and art gallery in the town centre has set a new record sale price for one of her paintings – the painting (of two kingfishers) sold recently for £12,000.
Alex says: “I am blown away by the sale of my painting and as with all paintings that sell it is just brilliant and humbling to know that my paintings are in peoples houses around the world!”
Alex has been painting from a young age – completing her first painting at just nine years old. At sixteen Alex joined local art societies and sold her first painting for just £18. Since then Alex’s painting career has gone from strength to strength.
In 2017 Alex had several paintings published into prints, following this she was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year 2019’ by The Fine Art Trade Guild. Shortly after Alex opened her own studio and art gallery in Andover, town centre. Alex has been represented by De Montfort Fine Art since 2020 – the largest distributor of original art and fine art prints in the UK. And now Alex’s paintings are in galleries across the UK and on-board luxury cruise ships, such as the Queen Mary II.
