TAP to Thank and Praise

TAP Thank and Praise Andover

Love Andover is proud to be partnering with an organisation which exists to allow people to easily ‘thank and praise’ keyworkers.

TAP (Thank and Praise) was launched in 2019 as a way to give people the chance to show their appreciation for people and organisations in education and health and social care.

Love Andover is encouraging people to use the website to share their thanks and is asking organisations to register themselves for the free facility.

Talking to Andover Radio’s Craig Hicks, TAP Commercial Director James Mcloughlin said, “The organisation’s founders found themselves frustrated at the lack of ways that thanks could be shown to care providers.

The social thanking organisation was started before the Covid pandemic by founders Sandy and Phillip Curtis who adopted a young boy called Donovan.  Mr Mcloughlin says, “They were Blown away by the quality of care they received and discovered that there were no mechanisms were in place for people to show their appreciation with large organisations.

“Large organisations like the NHS or those in education sector were set up for complaints rather than giving praise, that’s why they set up Thanks and Praise”.

The platform exists for people to easily give thanks to both individuals and organisations.  The site’s partnership comes as research shows the level of pressure on those working in care, health and education.

Mr Mcloughlin said, “65% of people who leave the education profession say they don’t feel valued”. This information is from the Teacher Wellbeing Index.

“Additionally, according to the Care Works Charity, 51% of social care workers have considered leaving their job in last 3 years.  The NHS Confederation recently claimed that 90% of their members are concerned about effect of Covid-19 on the wellbeing of staff.

“The whole point of the platform is to make it easy for people to give their thanks”, adds Mr Mcloughlin.

Working with Love Andover and the BBC Make a Difference campaign, contributors to the TAP platform can have their messages of thanks read out on the radio, as well being seen on the TAP website and across their and our social media platforms.

Age Concern Hampshire signed to the platform last week. Age Concern have 150 staff but have a further 300 volunteers, all working on their behalf for the love of the community they serve.  Mr Mcloughlin concludes, “The TAP platform is a brilliant way for both staff and volunteers to be thanked, and receive the praise they deserve.”
