This Sunday it’s “Up Up and Away” for Salisbury Hospice’s first 1000 Virtual Balloon Race.
This Sunday Salisbury Hospice Charity are excited to announce it is launching its first-ever virtual balloon race and participants have the chance to win £500.
Salisbury Hospice Charity is calling on local supporters to reach for the virtual skies to take part in a balloon race to raise much-needed funds for Salisbury Hospice. The charity’s flagship fundraising events have all been cancelled or postponed this year, due to Covid-19, which is having a detrimental impact on fundraising for the Hospice.
The charity have teamed up with award winning Purepages Group, inventors of this eco-friendly web-based virtual balloon race, to bring their supporters together to design, release and race a virtual balloon in aid of the hospice. The event is sponsored by estate agents Savills.
The charity aims to sell #1000BALLOONS; one to represent each patient supported at Salisbury Hospice in any one year. This campaign was born out of these uncertain and difficult times we currently face. For those most vulnerable people living with a life limiting illness in today’s society, your help is needed more than ever.
The virtual balloon race is fantastic fun for all the family. The race mimics a real race and is based on real time and real weather data. Supporters can choose balloon colours and decorate them ahead of their release, then track their balloon on Google Maps and Satellite Imagery during the race.
The balloon race will be launched virtually from Salisbury Hospice on Sunday 5th July at 12 (noon) and will last 7 days.
Balloon cost £5 each. If your balloon flies the furthest in the 7 days of the race, you will win a fantastic £500 cash. This incredible prize has been kindly donated by James Hay Partnership.
The virtual balloon race is a fantastic event, as it not only allows Salisbury Hospice Charity to raise much-needed funds for the hospice without a considerable negative effect on wildlife, but also reduces event costs to make sure the funds raised go the people who need them.
