Redenham Park based Veterans in Action (VIA) hosted their annual ‘Veterans Ball’ on Saturday, at which Andover’s town Mayor committed to raising further money for the ex-service personnel charity.

The popular annual event held at Norton Park Hotel raised money for the veterans’ charity which helps those who suffer the effects of war or find it hard to adjust to civilian life.

Chair of the VIA Trustees Scott Carr said, “Over £9,000 was raised and we give great thanks to the 130 or more people who attended.

“The raffle was a particular success, as were the Silver Singers and much drink was had amongst our guests!

“We’re also really pleased to confirm that Andover’s town Mayor announced that he will walk the entire length of the Test Way in aid of VIA”.

Cllr Rowles told local radio station 95.9FM Andover Radio, “Starting on April 11th next year, I will raise money for this exceptional charity by walking the entire Test Way – all 44 miles of it – over two days.

“That’s just short of walking a double marathon in a weekend.”

“This is great charity which has help so many ex-service personnel and I want to help them grow and continue their great work for people who have served to protect our country.”
