Police Staff Investigator, Graham Hamilton, said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked assault on a young man who was stood chatting to his girlfriend. The area was quiet at the time of the attack but there may have been witnesses who saw what happened or saw the offender in the area prior to or after the incident.

“It is possible the same man had been abusing passers by outside Lidls a few minutes prior to the assault. Did you see this man?

I would urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact PSI Hamilton at Andover police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
