Outstanding from Andover College

19 year old, Jordan Powell has won the title for Outstanding Individual Achievement at the 2019 Further Education First Awards for Colleges across the UK.

The award category recognises a young marketing professional for their outstanding achievement in college marketing. Sponsored by Forward and Thinking, this category seeks to find stars of the future.

After finishing secondary school at The Stonehenge School, Amesbury, Jordan joined Andover College in 2016.  She studied Business, Health and Social Care, Financial Studies and an EPQ. It was her business lecturer, Hannah Murphy, who suggested the progression to Business Administration Apprenticeship. Jordan’s Apprenticeship was sponsored by the Southern Universities Network, a collaborative partnership of HE providers in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight tasked with increasing Higher Education Participation.

Using the skills learnt in the classroom at Andover College, Jordan completed her apprenticeship within the Sparsholt College Group Marketing Department with flying colours and excelled at every challenge given to her including her own personal battle with poor-health.

In October 2019, she was appointed as a fully-fledged Digital and Marketing Officer for Andover College and is now an integral member of the team undertaking projects such as the redesign of the 2020 Andover College Prospectus, sixth form guide and redeveloping the Andover College website.

Jordan commented, “I’m so grateful to be presented with this award and I can’t thank my team, especially my Manager, Jane Chapman and Andover College Assistant Principal, Ben Stokes, enough! I would not be where I am today, without the impeccable support; I have received throughout my journey at Andover College from when I was a student to now as a staff member. Everyone supports each other and wants to see everyone succeed. Seeing that all my hard work has made a difference to the college is the most rewarding experience. I can’t wait to continue my journey at the college and to continue to excel in my career.”

Rachel Smith, Chief Executive, College Marketing Network said “We are delighted to give this award to Jordan in recognition of the contributions she has already made to the marketing team and the potential she shows to develop further. The comments from her colleagues included in the nomination show how highly she is regarded and the value the college places in her, after such a short period in post.”

Tim Jackson, Sparsholt College Group Principal summarised “We are all so proud of Jordan and what she has achieved in such a short period of time after finishing Further Education at Andover College She has developed from being an ambitious and able student to a confident and very competent marketer. Jordan has become a highly valued member of both the marketing and wider college team.”
