Harmonise Car Event Andover 2021 Mazda MX5

The charity car fundraiser event at the Wyke Down Country Pub and Restaurant in Andover has already seen hundreds of people attend to view the variety of vehicles on show.

Raising money for two charities, Andover MIND and Redenham Park-based Veterans In Action (VIA), the event was organised by brothers James and Will Burden and serving British Army soldier Chris Lawrence.

James says, “Mind help with lots of mental health issues and Veterans In Action deal with ex-serving soldiers who suffer from depression and PTSD after leaving the armed forces.  They help by rebuilding Land Rovers and taking them all over the world on expeditions.”

A variety of vehicles are on show at the event which costs just £2.50 per adult to attend.

Children’s play activities, refreshments and a raffle are all on site, helping to raise money for the charities.

The range of cars included BMWs, supped-up Mazdas and what are now classic Fords like the Orion and Sierra.  All vehicles had been carefully maintained and improved by their owners.

James adds, “At the same time as raising money we want to bring the car community and the public together and show what we as a community can achieve together and that not all car enthusiasts are the sort of hooligans they see in the news and papers.”

Star Wars Stoomtrooper, Deadpool and ‘Lest We Forget’ remembrance cars were on show (photos below).

Andover Radio was at the event and were thankful to Daniel Mckernan who allowed the Love Andover promo team in bright pink-t-shirts to pose with his restored hot pink Maxda MX5. (Yes, we know, the car is much sexier than the people who surrounded it for the photo).

A ‘Show and Shine’ competition runs through the day with prizes available for the winning cars on show.  Hundreds of raffle prizes are also up for grabs around 3pm this afternoon.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS (not those below) taken by local motorsports photographer Jez Rolfe will be shared in due course, will be available to purchase with a selection printed in the Love Andover Observer in August.
